Regarding your query. There were several changes from eventlist 1.5 to eventmanagement 3.0 version. Everything done to reduce unnecessary extra coding and usage of core apps. Therefore category api of joomla is used. Except category you can migrate all other database. You may need to enter the categories manually. Also you can try spupgrade. I think they have a solution for migration. Please let me know if you need any other help.
